Artist David Bernadis invited me to collaborate on an ambitious project
funded by Google’s Artists and Machine Intelligence program founder Blaise Aguera y Arcas.
‘Materia’ explores evolving technologies impact on the physical world
and their effect on our perception of it, narrated by an AI language model
on the cusp of becoming conscious.
My role was to visually conceptualise ‘deep time’ by mapping
drone footage and environmental scans onto shifting landscapes
as they dissolve into a digital ether.
Materia previewed at Galerie Kandlhofer, Vienna in March, 2023.
Currently installed at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
